The soy sauce chicken rice ($3) is a seriously tasty plate.It’s not to be compared with Liao Fan Hawker Chan, though, because here’s a different take on the dish. The rice, well-cooked so it bears bite, is a fluffy bed for the chicken breast meat.The latter surprises me: it’s juicy and tender, and fragrant with light soy sauce.I’d have preferred for the chicken to be better rendered of fat; the glossy skin’s gelatinous layer doesn’t quite make for a melt-in-the-mouth experience. The accompanying soup is a clean bowl that’s not unlike a herbal tonic, only with far lighter flavours.
